One of my personal favourites from the Black & Tan catalogue.
If You Ain’t Never Had the Blues came out of a collaboration between bluesman Boo Boo Davis and Blu ACiD. Boo Boo’s raw, unmistakable blues vocals meet Blu ACiD’s electronic production, creating a track that sits right at the heart of the Bluestronica idea.
The track has also had a life beyond the record: it was featured in the US feature film The Recall and has been used in several spots on Fox Sports.
Blues, beats and electronics — without losing the soul of the original.
